Library Notes | Advertisement text (23 and 30 October): "On Wednesday, 3d November, At half past NINE o'clock. A.M. Will be sold at PUBLICK AUCTION, in the Chamber over the South Reading-School, in Clough Street, THE LIBRARY of the late Rev. Dr. Mather Byles, deceased, consisting of a large and valuable collection of ancient and modern Authors in Divinity, Physick, History, Philosophy, Georgraphy, &c. &c. A Catalogue of said Books may be seen at the late Dwelling house of said deceased, any time before the sale. Oct. 23." Advertisement text (3 November): "3000 Volumes of Books. [line] THIS DAY" [remainder continues as above, omitting the final date] Advertisement text (6 November): "The Sale of the LIBRARY of the late Rev. Dr. Byles will be continued and compleated this day. There remain yet unsold a valuable collection of physical authors, Rider's History of England, in 50 vols. 12mo. and more than 20 vols. in Stenography. The two last will be put up at 11 o'clock. Also, A large collection of Pamphlets, containing mostly the works of Americans. The sale to begin at NINE o'clock, this morning, at the Chamber of the South Reading-School. Nov. 6, 1790." |
