Reviews

A sensitive fictional treatment of the NYC 1920s "hoarders" Homer & Langley Collyer. The author attempts to get inside their heads and explain their curious lifestyle. Since it is a novel, Doctorow took liberty with some of the facts, including the timeline. A gripping look at dysfunctional family.

Writing is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
