Skim, Skim, Skim, Skim, Done.

I wasn't getting dragged down into the depths of rehash hell with every other page, so I skimmed until I got to something interesting. Dialogue, action, something other than what I already knew.

Plotholes, but some good. Not the worst, not the best, but it was good.

This sequel was more interesting than the first book. The story was original and dark in a good way.
We get Anita's backstory, which makes her more relatable and interesting. She also starts going a bit dark and questions her morality.

There was enough good that it got saved from 2 star, but honestly, if I was reading this series instead of listening to it I would have been done with it long ago. Because the bad parts are really frustrating.

I don't know why I keep on going. Maybe I just want to see how low it will go. Maybe it's just easy to listen to when multitasking. Maybe because I know if I stop now, I will never return to it again and I hate leaving series unfinished (not that there is any final book in sight). Maybe because I see some better rated books in the future...… (more)

I am done. Curiosity is not a good enough reason to waste my time with this series.

There were some things that were pushing me to continue with this series, even when the problems started to really pile up for me. Namely, I enjoyed some of the characters and the conversations, which often went surprisingly deep. Like talking about emotions and mental problems and traumas. But it's just not worth going through all the mess to find these pearls.

The mess being progressively weirder sexual scenes. Anita getting constant power-ups that warrant more sexual scenes because her power is tied to sex. All the vampire-related drama which always includes vampires torturing someone because apparently, that's how we raise the stakes. And I could go on. A lot of things just started feeling very copy-and-paste too.… (more)
