This is one of the books in the comic book series of the babysitters club. The characters and storylines are sure to appeal to young girls and I love the way it deals with real topics like family illness and sibling differences. The characters are dimensional and often positive role models. I would have in classroom library for 3rd-5th.

A dogs life is a great book for realistic fiction because the events are not true and the characters are not real but the story might be similar to what a dog might experience when they are in dog shelters or they are strays. this book is also great for older children because they will be able to empathize with the character in the story and relate back to the real world.
