A second chance born of love. Pat Corrigan and Edgerton "Edge" Winters were ready to start a family--or so Pat thought. At the last minute, Edge got cold feet and fled. Pat didn't bother telling him the conception had already gone through and little Emma was on her way. He didn't want a relationship based on obligation. He'd rather raise his daughter on his own. Nine years later, Emma and her Poppy are doing fine. Edge isn't. He realizes what he threw away by leaving, and he's back to turn his life around and reclaim his family. It'll take a lot to prove to Pat that he's a new man, and even if Edge succeeds, the secret Pat has hidden for years might shatter their dreams all over again.… (more)

Pat was admittedly devastated when his longtime boyfriend, Edge, left him to take a job out of state. They were all set to settle down and start a family. So with Edge gone, Pat decided to go forward anyway--and with his daughter, Emma, 9 years later, he has no regrets regarding his decision. But when Edge shows back up in town without warning, Pat not only needs to sort out his feelings (that he realizes he has not fully resolved--despite telling himself that Edge is very much in his past) but also wrestle with a secret that he's kept from his former lover. This one went in some unexpected directions for me, but overall it's got the charm and build that one can expect from Andrew Grey. ( )

Cute story. Not my fave from Grey. It felt like the angst between the MCs was overemphasized to the point that it slowed the story down. It picked back up again half-way through chapter seven and the pacing was good from then on. I also felt like the MCs were not as well developed as Grey normally gets them. The details about the characters just kept getting repeated over and over again instead of lots of little new details. This didn't bother me too much, it was just something that I noticed. Again, overall it was a good story. ( )
