Hard to write a review of a novel that has already won so many accolades and stood the test of time. It's truly amazing. A little hard to get started as the dialect is challenging to read-- best to read in good long chunks. After the Joads set out for CA, the pace picks up. What can go wrong, does go wrong for them. Them and many thousands of actual families living that life during the depression. It's impossible for me to imaging surviving that soul-crushing existence. People who pulled through are the generation that made America great and brought about so many social changes. Even if now we have forgotten why those changes were so important. What else to say? This is must read. Timely. Timeless. ( )
