A Love Means... Story Geoff is in the city, living the gay life to the hilt, when his father's death convinces him to return to the family farm. Discovering a young Amish man asleep in his barn, Geoff learns that Eli is spending a year away from the community before accepting baptism into the church. Despite their mutual attraction, Geoff is determined not to become involved with him, but Eli has discovered that Geoff shares his feelings and begins to court him, neatly capturing first Geoff's attention and then his heart. Their budding relationship is threatened by closed-minded, gossipy relatives and the society at large, a whole new world to Eli, and he must decide whether to return to the community, his family, and the world and future he knows or to stay with Geoff and have faith in the power of love.… (more)

I'd heard many great things about this series and had been meaning to start it for a while. I believe I even read a short that comes after the first book a while back. And really, I have to say this book does not disappoint. Andrew Grey once again delivers a touching story that engages the reader in the characters and the world in which they live. I found myself with Geoff and Eli every step of the way and I'm very excited to continue with this series to see where things end up. ( )

This is a story about two main characters who are so unlikely to match that for the longest time I thought there'd be too many obstacles.

Geoff has trouble accepting his attraction, but can't resist Eli once the Amish-raised man starts courting him. Eli is very clear about his feelings for Geoff but is afraid of the 'punishment' his family might face in the Amish community if they found out about his relationship with Geoff.

I was moved to tears at several points because I was so emotionally involved with Geoff and Eli and their struggles to accept each other. It is a wonderful story which captivated and held my attention from beginning to end. ( )

I found it very slow. ( )

Not really my type of story. The story was very simple and predictable. It had a very unfinished and immature feel - as if the main characters were teenagers.The characters remained shallow and cliched: "the most beautiful", "the most caring", "the kindest", "the sweetest" - you get the idea.
In my opinion it is good writing when the author can make you see that this character is sweet through narration, dialogue and action, and not shout it in your face explicitly. Also it was insta love (big no no for me) and to top it off the underlying theme was, that you only have one true soul mate and that's not a philosophy I find agreeable especially coupled with the fact that they only know each other for two months.

If you find the plot with a religious/cultural gap (here Amish and English) interesting, I'd recommend James Buchanan's "Hard Fall" (involving a mormon police officer and a ex con as MCs). ( )

The next book in the "Love" series;
It's more than 20 years later in the Cliff and Len story...
Geoff , the Son of Cliff Leighton, is in the Chicago, living the gay life to the hilt. But a family tragedy forces him to return to the family farm.

Their budding relationship is threatened by closed-minded, gossipy relatives and the society at large, a whole new world to Eli, and he must decide whether to return to the community, his family, and the world and future he knows or to stay with Geoff and have faith in the power of love.
This is a touching story , full of love, romance, laughter and tears.
The beginning and towards the end of this novel had me in tears.
It's a beautiful story about finding love and having the courage to fight for it. ( )
