This book is weird AF

WOW. I read it over two days. Could not put it down. Intelligent writing. Non-stop action. Lots of "ancient alien" style science adventure. Great read. Thank you Michael.

The first part of this book with its desciption of the internet is incredibly dated. But once it gets into the story itself, about a computer technician putting in a new system in a London office who becomes involved in the private life of a pretty employee, it is fairly compelling. This is, however, about as dark as it gets, and despite being pretty well written after the dated opening, it may not be something you feel is worth your time after you finish it. I'm on the fence.

Novella in which a “moderately unsuccessful” TV writer wakes up the morning after Christmas to find his wife and daughter missing—and then, it turns out, everyone is missing. In that loneliness he confronts who he is and whether he wants to be that person. It didn’t grab me as much as the best of his writing does, but it was a solid “the fantastic reveals our true natures” story.
