Finished Reading March 18, 2016

I really wanted to love this book. I barely liked it. The basis is good. The execution is not.
It is written in a movie or play script style. This becomes very distracting to the reader. It makes reading it difficult and literally pulls you away from the characters and the story.
It started off really interesting. There are sections that work well and pull you back in. I think if it had been written using a more traditional style I would have enjoyed it.
Except.... NO SEXY TIMES! Disappointment
I have 2 more of this authors books that I own.
I checked and they are clean also. Ugh.
Those I will put on my Not For Me shelf.

I have read most of C.G. Cooper's books about Cal, Daniel, and the Jefferson Group and enjoyed them all. For some reason, PAYBACK seems like it was written by somebody else. The action was sporadic, and too many things were going on within the storyline. I usually enjoy the banter between team members, which was missing here. The Dir. of the CIA, Mr. Flap, seemed to be an over-the-top character, it's unbelievable that he was able to manage the bounty program and that the president was so blind to what he was doing. A nuclear bomb detonates in the U.S. and it seems like nobody cared. I would have expected common citizens to panic, yet, there was no mention.

The story was slow-moving and I found myself skimming pages. It ended well, but what hard to finish. I' already have too much invested in this author and won't let PAYBACK turn me off to future offerings
