I came across this novel by pure chance while browsing books during an annual book fare. Story intrigued me and when i purchased it seller told me I bought a very good thriller book and to let him know how I liked it (apparently he is also an avid reader and he read through this one in a single day).

Considering he is a seller I took his recommendation with the pinch of salt but I have to say he was not wrong. This is truly a very good action thriller (and now I have to find the book seller to thank him and see what other gems he has to offer).

Protagonist is member of an elite terror unit trained from childhood somewhere in the wild (Afghanistan by the looks of it) to become the elite warrior (literally walking weapon) and member of a secret group of soldiers (13 of them hence the name of the main character - number 13th) tasked with most heinous assaults on civilian population.

Everything changes - better said events get triggered because number 13 was always reluctant when it comes to ideological background of planned attacks and was constantly trying to find way out - when Nr. 13's family gets targeted and killed by his comrades in arms in a sort of punishment/test challenge. This puts him on the path of vengeance and he starts hunting his comrades in arms.

Story pace is very fast, characters are great and story ends with a hint to the possible sequel (which I can barely wait for :)).

Recommended to all action thriller fans.

First book I read from Rob Sinclair was [b:Sleeper 13|36513537|Sleeper 13 (Sleeper 13, #1)|Rob Sinclair|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1509510796l/36513537._SY75_.jpg|58234254] (if you are fan of action thrillers and did not read it by all means give it a go). It was fast paced story with likeable characters and lots of action.

While waiting on the sequel for the above book in my local bookstore I came across The Red Cobra. Synopsis intrigued me (former intelligence officer trying to live off the grid using new name when his past starts catching up with him) and I have to say that this one is quite a tour de force.

Main character (Logan aka James Ryker) is drawn into investigating death of the famous assassin, woman known under moniker Red Cobra. She and Ryker crossed paths before and this qualifies him to perform the investigation and finally determine if Red Cobra is dead or not.

And this is from where the story starts. If Jack Reacher is self guiding missile tackling injustice where he encounters it, Ryker is a bloody cluster bomb that goes for full effect. Unlike Reacher who has some boundaries and is known to circle around the enemy before taking them down, Ryker comes up as a type of person that has the skills and does not care who is on his way (1, 2 or battalion of bad guys or full concrete wall and tank or two) he goes full frontal - if he is out to get them he will get them and opposition wont like it. At all.

Action is very gory and this might not be everyone's cup of tea. Everything is very visual and you can see all the broken bones and bodies with your mind's eye.

All in all very good action thriller. Ending was quite a twist and I have another series to track :)

Recommended to all fans of action thriller.

This is a fast paced Thriller by Rob Sinclair which had me gripped from the very start. Dark Fragments is one of those books that you want to put down because you don’t like what you are reading yet you need to pick it up to know what is happening next. The characters arnt the type one would like to bump into whilst on your own, that’s for sure.

It really had me gasping at times. There are certainly plenty of twists in this book and a “I never saw that coming” kind of feel

I expected to like this more than I did, but unfortunately, it didn't really draw me in very far. It's a shame, because I think the premise has lots of possibilities, but to me, the main character, Aydin, just wasn't that likable and the agent chasing him and his (former) brothers was likable but not really very effective.

I wanted to like Aydin, and realize he was raised to be the way he was, but he was just too violent and self-centered. Since he had the intelligence and independent thinking ability to see the errors in the beliefs being taught him and his brothers at the farm, I felt he should also be able to realize that there were other errors in what they taught him. Unfortunately, he was too focused on killing those who had the same brainwashing as he did, and were not fully responsible for their actions.

He had many opportunities to work for a greater good, and possibly be accepted into society in some way. I expected that he might even join forces with the west as a spy. Maybe he will in the next book, and I'll probably read it if I still remember the storyline when it comes out.
